Foram tantos anúncios simultâneos na noite dessa quinta-feira (12), que muita gente se esqueceu do verdadeiro propósito do The Game Awards: premiar os melhores jogos produzidos e lançados em 2019. Em um ano concorrido com vários títulos de peso, os resultados ficaram bastante divididos e nenhum jogo se consagrou como uma barbada.
Contrariando o aparente favoritismo de Hideo Kojima, Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice arrematou o prêmio de Jogo do Ano, para delírio de quem ficou com ele na memória desde o começo do ano. Entretanto, Death Stranding também faturou prêmios no The Game Awards e a premiação guardou um espacinho até mesmo para o subestimado Devil May Cry 5.
